The Governor's New York Forward (NYF) initiative is a New York State program that builds on the success of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI). After submitting a robust initial application, the Village of Sleepy Hollow will develop a Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) that identifies projects that would benefit from NYF funding. The SIP will include ready-to-implement, high-impact projects promoting Sleepy Hollow's overarching community goal for long-term residents, newcomers, and visitors.
The village of Sleepy Hollow will receive $4.5 million in funding as one of the
Mid-Hudson Region winners of the first round of NY Forward.
New York State's NY Forward program builds on the success of the Downtown Revitalization Initiative (DRI) program. The New York Forward focuses on invigorating and revitalizing the downtowns in smaller and rural communities—villages, hamlets, and other small, neighborhood-scale municipal centers. The State has allocated $100 million for the first round of NY Forward. Each of the State’s ten Regional Economic Development Councils (REDCs) will have the option of recommending two communities for $4.5 million NY Forward awards or three communities one of which will receive $4.5 million and two will be awarded $2.25 million.
Through the NYF program, the smaller downtowns will receive the planning and implementation support needed to attract more businesses, residents, and visitors while providing a higher quality of life for all residents.
